The Vault

Gallery Group, a gallery which has kindly hosted my work in the past, is re-opening in a new building under the name "The Vault at Gallery Mortgage". They're moving half a block to the east to 121 E 6th St, and they now have a great new open space solely dedicated to showcasing local art.

I will be showing some work at their Inaugural Grand Opening this Friday, December 5th. They have put together a retrospective group show of a multitude of artists that have shown with them over the past 6 years. The reception will be from 5pm to 8pm, and it's Gallery Walk night so there will be plenty of other galleries to check out as well.

On Air

WFIU's Arts Desk Editor, Yaël Ksander, recently put together a very nice piece about my art and the fact that I was recently awarded a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission. The piece aired today and you can find a direct link to the audio as well as her written article here. Thank you to Yaël and WFIU.

World 2

My next solo venture will be hosted by the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery in Indianapolis. The reception will be this Friday, March 7th, from 5pm to 9pm. The show will make use of both sections of the gallery and will feature some brand new paintings that I haven't shown anywhere else yet. The resident artists of the Stutz building will also be having open studios from 6pm to 9pm. Please stop by if you're in the area, more info can be found at their website.

Public Art II

At the end of 2013 I painted another traffic box here in Bloomington. This one's sitting downtown on the corner of Kirkwood and College. I came up with a design that I hoped a large number of people would enjoy. It has the feeling of a midwestern landscape seen from above, with some modern and classic graphic design flavor. I called it "Our Land". By the end I felt like I'd accomplished my goal, as everyone I talked to while working on it gave me a lot of positive feedback. Now I'm thinking ahead to other ways I can add a bit of color to Bloomington.

On Friday February 7th I'll be showing at a new gallery up in Greencastle called Apostrophe Art Space. It's a great space with two floors that I'll be filling up with my artwork, including a couple new ones. It's right on the downtown square at 25 W Franklin St. Low Road Gallery also has a great show planned for the evening, so if you're in Greencastle, stop on by, there will be plenty of art and refreshments and wintry merriment for all.

This Saturday, August 10th, I'll be showing at the Garfield Park Arts Center as part of their sci-fi themed "Encounter" show. The reception will be from 6-8pm, and there will be music, light refreshments, and a hands-on activity for the public. The show will be up until September 21st.

Order, Chaos, and the Cosmos

The opening reception for my next solo show is this Friday, June 7th, 5-8pm at the Ivy Tech Waldron. This Friday is also the 10th anniversary of Bloomington's Gallery Walk, so come visit the many downtown galleries if you're in the area. Payson McNett, James Lax, and Colette Ross-Boggan will also be showing at the Waldron, and the exhibits will be up through June. More info can be found at the Ivy Tech Waldron's website.

Bloomington Open Studios Tour

I'll be opening up my studio to visitors as part of Bloomington's second annual Open Studios Tour. A total of 42 artists spread throughout Bloomington will be participating, showing off ceramics, paintings, metalsmithing, printmaking and the like. The tour will be open on April 27th from 10am-6pm and the 28th from 10am-4pm. If you're in the area, stop on by for some refreshments and a whole lot of art. Previews of the artists' work, as well as very convenient maps and info can be found at the BOST website.

Cartes de Visite

Coming up in March I'll be included in Gigantic Gallery's 2-year anniversary show. Sixteen artists that they worked with the previous year will provide 4" x 6" cartes de visite [personal postcards, in this case little arts]. If you're in the area, check it out. The reception is March 7th from 5:30 to 9 pm. All info at Gigantic Gallery's website.

Insert Coin to Play

In November I'll be participating in a new exhibit at the Stutz Art Space in Indianapolis entitled "Insert Coin to Play". It will feature art in a variety of media, all inspired by video games. There will be a "First Friday" preview reception on November 2nd from 5 to 9 pm. If you want to delve deeper into the history of video games' influence on art, there will also be an open gallery reception on Friday the 9th from 6 to 9:30 pm, with a panel discussion being held from 7 to 8:30. All info is available at the Stutz Artists' website.
